Battle of the Bulge

The Battle of the Bulge was one of the last major German attacks on the Western Front in World War II. The Allies were caught a bit off guard and struggled initially but eventually turned the tide and all but sealed the fate of the Germans and the Axis powers. Even in victory it was the biggest and bloodiest battle of World War II for the Americans. December 16, 2019 was the 75th Anniversary of the start of the battle.

Not an actual construction pro.

On a lighter note, construction offices and trailers around the country are deep in the throes of another battle of the bulge. During the last full week before Christmas, everyone up and down the construction supply chain sends out their company gifts which are usually a sweet or delicious snack. All types of popcorn, flavored nuts, brownies, cookies, candy and more have been delivered seemingly en masse to the offices and trailers of construction service providers across the country. Construction professionals are constantly tempted with free snacks each time they trek through the break area for some water or a coffee. The result is a battle against weight gain (battle of the bulge) and comes at employees in sweet, salty, chewy and crunchy gut bombs.

To combat the resulting bulge, many companies have weight loss initiatives and competitions at the start of the new year. After competing in these weight loss initiatives, most participants will be back to their moderately healthy weight and BMI.
