BIM Use is Increasing in Bridge Design and Construction

While commonplace in most every other type of construction, BIM use has been slower to catch on with bridge construction projects. That is starting to change. Models are being more widely used on transportation projects. Some DOT's are even going as far as to test implementation of Model Based Design and Construction (MBDC). Using MBDC, projects almost exclusively use 3D models from the design phase to the end of construction. In this process, tradition plan pages and PDF's might be a thing of the past. An article on Informed Infrastructure goes into detail on past and the present MBDC work, as well as, what the future needs and holds for road construction pros.
