Border Wall Schmorder Wall

The Great Wall of China is the most famous border wall in history. The US Mexico border wall ain't it.

Border wall construction is blowing and going. Contracts are continuing to be awarded, even during tough times. I'm a construction pro so I generally support most all construction but some of the contracts that have been awarded don't smell quite right. This article, though written by a left leaning publication, isn't wrong in it's unit cost calculations. It also isn't wrong in determining that the leaders of the contractors awarded contracts have made calculated political donations and statements that likely helped them win work. Several border wall contracts smell and look a bit funny.

One thing that I can't stand is when people act like construction is a fully corrupt industry. There appears to be a bit of wonky procurement with the border wall work but as a whole we are honest, hard working and decent people. While I am sure there is more than meets the eye in regards to the contracts discussed in this article, they don't look quite right at first pass. As a construction pro, I really don't like when a minority number of builders wins and builds work in an unfair way that opens the rest of the honest construction pros up to unfair judgement via public opinion and the media.

For anyone that thinks they can figure me out politically based on this post and the referenced article, you definitely won't be able to guess who I voted for in 2016 and I bet you won't be able to guess how I'll vote later this year.

Check out this article above and do some of your own research. My guess is that at best you won't like how border wall construction makes construction pros look.
