In an industry already full of stress and strain, COVID hasn't made things any easier for construction pros. Adam Jablin, writing for Construction Executive provides five ways we can stay strong and maybe even change for the better during tough times like COVID:
Share or journal - share with one person or write down what we are truly feeling. When we get things off our chest it helps us stress less and perform better.
Exercise - even if we work in physically demanding jobs exercise can help us. It can help us relieve stress. Maybe if we are worn out from the demands of the job, we can do exercise that is based more on recovery and rebuilding. This will help us feel better tomorrow and years down the road.
Read positive material - read about and focus on the positive things in our lives. It's easy to find and even focus on bad things. I've heard the quote "We are what we eat" many times throughout my life. This is true and we are also what we read, discuss and focus on. Consume better material and keep better relationships to think and feel better.
Acts of kindness - be nice. Serve others. Helping or taking care of someone can be good for our mind and soul.
Ask for help - nobody knows if we are struggling if we don't ask for help. I'm not a mind reader and neither is anyone else. If you need help, ask for it.
