Clean or Cluttered Desk?

Are you a clean or cluttered desk kind of builder? I am definitely a cluttered desk kind of guy. I do periodically organized and declutter my desk but I always have at least a few projects on my desk. I learned while I was in school and in my early career days that if I get "too organized," I lose stuff. Simply put, my piles are organized. As soon as I start to file and stash things away, I lose stuff. It's somewhere around me but it might as well be in the trashcan. I've worked with quite a few people who have completely clean desks. I honestly don't know how they live with themselves. It seems like so much work to constantly be organizing things. What I find interesting is that both styles and styles in between can be 100% effective for construction pros. Both styles have also been adopted by poor performers. Turns out you can be totally unorganized even if you look organized and, well, you can be totally unorganized if your desk is cluttered.

Is your desk clean or cluttered? More importantly, is your performance clean or cluttered?
