Concrete ≠ Cement

I've got a little pet peeve. I'd bet a buck most construction professionals have a similar pet peeve. It is this - concrete is not cement. Concrete is essentially water, aggregate and cement (and admixtures). Cement is a very important part of the overall concrete product that binds aggregates together. We place concrete, not cement, from concrete trucks, not cement trucks.

With this knowledge it is easy to see that the next generation of builders is trending towards doom because many YouTube content creators like Blippi are teaching kids to call concrete trucks cement mixers. Concrete is essentially water, aggregate and cement (and admixtures). Call me lucky or blessed, but I've been able to teach my son (now 4) the correct terminology. It was definitely a proud dad moment when my son frustratingly showed me the video where Blippi blasphemed concrete trucks and told me he was wrong. You might also say I am overbearing or that I should relax a bit. To that I say I am relaxed - I have never required a lift plan prior to my son playing with his mini tower crane.
