Confidence Does Not Mean You’re Correct

If you're like me, you might get a bit steam rolled by someone who acts with high levels of confidence in all situations. In my experience, they have the answer or solutions the instant a topic or questions is encountered. If confronted with additional questions or discussion, they don't often present additional information to backup up their position or support their perspective. They maintain confidence and even get more confident at times. When all else fails they might say something along the lines of you just don't understand of that you don't get it. While it can be challenging to work or live with people like this, you can make progress and create solutions by knowing and taking the following steps.

1. Confidence does not correlate with competence.

2. Use doubt to explore.

3. Questions are powerful.

4. Know there is rarely, if ever, one right answer or course of action.

5. Divorce yourself from your ideas.

6. Don't try to fake confidence.
