Construction Crews Optimistic Respirator Rules Will Be Relaxed After Donation N95 Masks

Mass quantity of silica (sand).

Even though construction services are considered essential services in most parts of the county, construction pros are doing their part to help other businesses. Not usually the kind of people who cook, construction pros are continuing their regular use of takeout and fast food. To support the rest of the country, numerous construction firms are donating N95 masks to local medical providers. As with most builders, they are happy to help others in a time of need but they are a bit optimistic that various respirator safety rules will be relaxed. Most believe that since they've worked their whole career without concern for silica exposure until recently, they can use the COVID-19 crisis to get back to their old ways. The consensus among craft pros is that because construction is considered an essential service is that work will continue to progress, even without N95 respirators because building and maintaining infrastructure and medical facilities that will help win the fight against the virus is a requirement and a no fail mission. While this might sound insane, it is a sacrifice some builders are willing and hoping to make. It's not like silicosis is making large numbers of people sick like COVID-19. As crazy as it seems, some construction pros are hoping they can use this time to keep working and potentially show that respirators are not needed for future work around silica.
