Construction is (Still) Dangerous

It's a sad day for a Houston project team. Three workers were killed and an additional worker was injured when the precast stairs they were installing collapsed. Several news reports note the collapse started around the 13th or 14th floor of a 15 floor building. Images show that the stairs collapsed to the ground floor. Unfortunately, several workers were caught in the collapse and debris and did not make it. Due to the unstable nature of the collapsed concrete, body recovery is proceeding slowly and cautiously. The collapse cannot be taken back but hopefully a better design or installation method can be developed to prevent another incident in the future.
