COVID Infection Rates High With Construction Workers

A study performed by University of Texas at Austin researchers has determined that construction workers are more likely to be hospitalized because of COVID than other workers. Research was focused on construction in Austin and in Texas. While the exact reasons why construction workers were hospitalized more was not identified, researchers noted that the rate is likely because most construction workers were considered essential and continued working throughout the pandemic, even during shutdowns. Closing projects was not recommended by researchers as long as project teams follow common CDC guidelines.
