Dead Days

Dead days are supposed to be productive prepartion days. It's hard to be productive when eggnog and good times are calling.

Most colleges have something called dead days between regular class sessions and final exams. They are this purgatory of sorts where students are done with classes but not done with the course until they take and pass the final. The time just before, between and after the Christmas and New Year holidays is a bit like this in construction. People up and down the construction supply chain are on vacation, with family or relaxing around the house. It is pretty difficult to get much done because if one person in the supply chain is unavailable, the construction process stalls. The poor souls that work through the holidays experience a dead day of sorts. They likely got some stuff done with their team before the holiday exodus and are getting some solo prep work and deliverables knocked out but they can't complete anything until everyone is back to work after New Years Day. Deliverables from down the supply chain are provided to them and they are able to provide deliverables up the supply chain. Once everyone is back to work, decisions can be made and action can be taken to get back to building projects and building a better world.
