Education

Education is formally defined "as the act or process of imparting or acquiring general knowledge, developing the powers of reasoning and judgment, and generally of preparing oneself or others intellectually for mature life." (www.dictionary.com). Often we think of education as formal learning at a school or university. In the trailer this can also include company provided training. In construction, the most important education is usually the on the job learning and the knowledge gained while getting your hands dirty. Evidence of "hard knocks" education can be a pair of dirty boots in their closet or a dirty hard hat or two on a bookshelf. Formal education is great but without experience lots of blind spots exist. The more a good builder learns - informally and formally - the they realize they have a lot more to learn.
