Field Problem

A field problem is an issue that the team in The Trailer takes care of. Sometimes a field problem is only identified once on the job and taken care of by the person or people that identify it. A field problem is also something that may have been identified and priced by the estimating team. Said sarcastically, a field problem is an issue that the estimating team overlooked, failed to identify and/or failed to price that the staff in The Trailer must solve. In the occasion that the estimating team gives the project team a little pot of extra money to work with, staff in The Trailer will usually identify this project driven savings that they claim as a result of their hard work, expert planning and flawless execution. It will then be applied to the bottom line. A good estimating team almost always thinks they provide a good bid and a project team can rarely be convinced they are building with a good bid. It’s a mostly friendly rivalry that exists in many companies.
