FMI recently shared it's Engineering and Construction Outlook: First Quarter 2020 Report. Though there is some overall volatility and certain sectors in in our industry that will spend less this year, there are several that FMI forecasts to grow during 2020. Based on recent news, growth sectors are obviously related to essential services. Transportation infrastructure, public safety facility, water infrastructure, power generation/transmission and healthcare facility construction is forecasted to spend more during 2020. Amusement/entertainment, religious and general commercial construction lead the construction sectors that are forecasted to lose for 2020. While residential construction is forecasted to spend less during 2020, it isn't forecasted to lose the most. Overall, FMI forecasted construction to spend about 1% less in 2020.
