It's been the better part of a year since philosophical razors or rules of thumb have been mentioned on The Trailer. Recently, in the insane micro world that is Twitter, some new razors were shared. One that caught my eye was attributed to Jeff Bezos.
"If unsure who to work with, pick the person that has the best chances of breaking you out of a 3rd world prison."
While I don't know anyone that could bust me out of any bad 3rd world situation, I do know a few people that don't let me do and who I trust to get things done. I'm digging deep into my philosophical understanding and abilities but I am pretty sure I am on the right track with that train of thought. When building a team, especially when deciding who top positions and leaders will be, select construction pros who take on insane assignments and don't settle for anything less than success. While not saving you from a 3rd world prison, building a team of people who aren't afraid to work early, late, at night and on the weekends from time to time while making tough decisions will help make sure projects get built safely, without defects, on time and on budget. They'll make construction easy for clients and construction profitable for your company.
