In an article discussing a quote on The Trailer a few days ago, another quote, by Jocko Willink was used. It noted, "There are not bad teams, only bad leaders." In the days since the article on The Trailer, Fast Company published an article discussing why nice people do bad things at work. Neurologists studied brain activity when individuals when they were given the opportunity to or directed to inflict pain another person and found that when directed to do bad, people often did it and felt less empathy in the process. While bad leaders and bad leadership can be more complex than physical pain, it shows that people are more likely to do bad things and feel less bad doing them when directed to by their company or leadership. I can't help but think many of us are having inner monologues about just doing our job, just doing what we're told or just trying to pay bills. Many people are just trying to survive. According to the article research to follow will try to determine why people follow orders that harm without showing much empathy.
