Meetings Don't Have to Feel Like a Slow Death

Teamwork, team communication and team meetings can be a bit of a challenge to manage. Often there are people who are more outgoing and open with their opinions (whether they are right or wrong). There are also people that just sit back, keep their opinions to themselves and generally stay quiet. The more talkative people often "win" and have more influence over the decisions and direction of the team. This obviously isn't good in all situations. Randy Conley, a Ken Blanchard Leadership Consultant, suggests that four skills are helpful in moderating people to more equitable discussion time in teamwork situations. To make our team communication top notch we should encourage testing, inquiring, stating a clear position and explaining our thinking. For full details check out Mr. Conley's article.
