Concrete (via cement) production is an energy intensive and greenhouse gas producing process. Previous attempts to reduce the total amount of carbon dioxide produced by concrete construction processes have struggled to make much headway. A new and developing technology creates a limestone when carbon dioxide reacts with the surface of existing concrete. This limestone can then be used in future concrete products and reduce the overall cement needs. This technology is more unique than most in that it removes greenhouse gasses from our atmosphere while also reducing the production of future greenhouse gasses. The sum of this combination could actually reduce overall carbon dioxide volumes in our atmosphere.
