Modular construction is one step closer to delivering a heavy construction and structural solution. Swinerton and a design consultant have developed a modular parking garage system that makes the design process faster and cheaper. While many of the components like columns are standard (and use standard formwork), all are still fabricated and built with traditional construction methods. The system they have developed is called Perq. It is targeted for parking garages with 300 to 1,200 stalls. While still a ways from a truly modular solution it is a positive step in that direction.
