Port Construction Expected to See Significant Investment by 2050

A recent report found that due to increased demand and climate change (sea level increase) driven modifications, ports will require substantial construction investment. Port demand is expected to require port capacity to increase from between 2 and 4 times current capacity. While expanding capacity in some areas, significant work may be required to maintain existing capacity in other locations due to sea level elevation increases as a result of forecasted climate change driven increases. It should be noted that port expansion, not climate change adjustments, is where the bulk of the investment in port construciton will take place. Contactors already doing port work or positioned to get into port construction should be feeling pretty good about their strategic plan.
