Razors are all about rules of thumb and I like things that feel like common sense when I think about them. Another recent one I found and liked is:
The way I read it is to not necessarily watch out for the quiet construction pros but to pay attention to the quiet construction pros. The best people I worked with almost always downplayed something awesome they accomplished. They never just started talking about themselves but they would spend hours explaining things and sharing their wisdom if asked. When you come across a quiet or unassuming construction pro, don't assume they don't know what they are doing or lack confidence because they aren't making a ton of noise while working. They might be saving their mental bandwidth for thoughts and internal calculations and analyses.
