Unless you've had your head under a rock the last few weeks and today, you know it's National Women in Construction Week. Companies and industry groups are highlighting the roles women currently play and prospective women construction pros could look forward to or expect with a career in construction. Interviews and articles are shared in which women share how they have succeeded and how future women constructors can succeed.
I am married to a woman and have three daughters but can't speak for a woman's perspective on how to succeed in construction, so please check out this article that discusses Seven Ways Women in Construction Can "Pave the Way" in a Male Dominated Field. After reading this article, I think most of ideas presented in the article can be applied to young building pros or different-thinking pro builders throughout their careers.
If you are an experienced veteran or leader, how can you support and encourage women in construction?
